Daniel Calarco is the Director of International Programs for One Global Economy (OGE), the international division of One Economy. Daniel joined One Economy in 2006 and oversaw the development of OGE’s pilot projects in... [show more] Jordan and South Africa, both of which launched in 2007. Since then, Daniel has led One Economy’s Asset Mapping and Baseline Data Collection project with Shell Canada and has also spearheaded efforts for new projects in Latin America and the Middle East. Currently, Daniel’s portfolio includes oversight of OGE’s projects in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America. Additionally, Daniel is the programmatic lead for One Economy’s mapping work in Guam, CNMI, and American Samoa.
Daniel joined One Economy from Georgetown University where he earned his Masters in Arab Studies in September 2006 with a concentration in business and economics. At Georgetown he also was awarded the Landeggar Honors Certificate in International Business and Diplomacy in May, 2006. Daniel is certified as proficient in Arabic by Georgetown’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies. Daniel’s interest in the Middle East stems from study abroad at the American University in Cairo in 2002 and is reflected in his Bachelors degree in International Relations from Brown University. Daniel brings experience from working with the US State Department in Cairo where he created several publications for the US Embassy Public Affairs Department and authored a study on the Egyptian media’s use of the Internet. In September 2011, Daniel was a guest lecturer at Georgetown University for first year seminar students in International Business, Public Policy, and Society. [show less]

With support from the private sector, large nonprofit and corporate foundations and municipalities, Lee has developed and scaled partnerships with community organizations to create free online self-prepared tax filing programs in more than 150 urban and rural markets. Since creating the program more $90 million has been returned to 62,000 low- and moderate-income households. Prior to this work, Lee managed the nation’s largest free low-income tax preparation network located in NYC serving more than 44,000 clients annually. He also directed teams of community advocates enrolling tens of thousands of households in food stamps and other income-based nutritional programs. As Director of the Office of the Chairman, Clyde was the liaison between the Board of Directors, the Chairman of the Board, the President of One Economy, and the officers. Clyde assisted the Chairman, Rey Ramsey with external affairs and strategic planning for the organization. Clyde also served as the National Director for the Community Impact Division for One Economy. As National Director of Community Impact, he led the organization’s community-based programs and community engagement efforts. Managing a team of seven community impact officers, the department was the responsible for the cultivation of new philanthropic, corporate, and public-sector funding for One Economy’s community based technology solutions including high-speed wired & wireless access, youth technology training & literacy programs and hyper-localized interactive web-content. Before becoming Director of the Office of the Chairman and Community Impact, he was Program Officer and Community Liaison. Clyde managed community partnerships and program implementation for Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD as well as broadband adoption projects in Seattle, WA, Dayton, OH, and Gulfport/Biloxi, MS. Before One Economy, Clyde was Legislative Assistant to the President of PodestaMattoon, one of Washington’s top ten high-tech lobbying firms, where he handled legislative tracking and client relations for eBay, Motion Picture Association of America, National Association of Broadcasters, and Reed Elsevier Inc., among others. In 1997, he began his career with former U.S. Congresswoman and current One Economy Board member Elizabeth Furse as her Scheduler and Legislative Assistant. After Representative Elizabeth Furse retired from Congress in 1999, he continued his career in Congress by working as Executive Assistant for U.S. Representative Diana DeGette. Ken brings two decades of experience, along with a decade as a senior executive for online, e-commerce, and wireless companies, to the One Economy team. Select roles include: vice president of marketing for e-commerce bookseller VarsityBooks.com, helping to drive them to their IPO in addition to launching their marketing services division; strategic advisor to Nextel, helping to launch their Boost prepaid offering; head of e-commerce and operations for a multi-carrier wireless company; and head of marketing and sales for the largest global e-commerce association. Mourad was also the Director of Planning, Design, and Development at the Enterprise Foundation, the second largest national community development intermediary in the United States. Prior to his tenure at Enterprise, Mr. Mourad held positions as Senior Planner with the City of Boston, and City Planner for the City of Cambridge, Massachusetts. He also consulted for USAID, the Ford Foundation as well as the governments of Egypt, Sri Lanka and the Sudan on a number of development issues ranging from affordable housing policies to economic development and employment.

Sonja has over fifteen years of experience working with nonprofits and engaging grassroots organizations in the economic and community development process. During her previous position as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Development at Habitat for Humanity in Forsyth County, North Carolina, Sonja oversaw federal and state funded programs while raising $7.5 million to support the building of more than 100 houses and created community partnerships that generated 5,000 volunteers each year. Sonja earned her BA and MBA at Wake Forest University and then served as the University’s Director of Annual Support, raising more than $3.5 million annually.

BMaynard Scarborough joined One Economy in May 2010 as the Vice President of Government Affairs & National Engagement. [show more]d federal levels, and stewards relationships with members of the corporation's National Technology Adoption Advisory Council (NTAAC) – a bi-partisan national coalition of 80+ state and local elected officials who have consistently made increased access to technology a part of their civic platforms. Prior to joining One Economy, BMaynard served as the Executive Director of an “outside-the-beltway” consumer advocacy organization – a leadership role that followed closely behind his relocation to Atlanta from Boston, Massachusetts, where he wrapped up a 5-year appointment as The Boston Globe’s (A New York Times Company) Director of Public Affairs. Scarborough served as the Globe's spokesperson, overseeing all aspects of public and media relations for the top-20 newspaper. He also served as the Boston Globe Foundation Administrator. A Georgia native, BMaynard did his undergraduate training at Atlanta’s prestigious Morehouse College – majoring in English and Broadcast Communications. Maynard is based in One Economy's Washington, DC headquarters.

Francesca Smiley comes to One Economy from completing valuable work in the field of social marketing. Francesca is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, DC; where she majored in communications and culture with a... [show more] concentration in legal communications. Before One Economy she had the opportunity to work with the National Reinvestment Coalition; an ethical fashion house, Worn Again, in East London; and for the Catalyst Project, a Social Marketing Organization. Since joining One Economy, Francesca has been working to manage the I Am Empowered social media project, and led the 11-city I Am Empowered Youth Empowerment Tour. Francesca will serve as the Manager of the Social Innovations and Digital Connectors Program. She hopes to bring an edge to the work we do at One Economy utilizing all our social media outlets and broadening the scope of broadband adoption to our communities. [show less]
