June 21, 2011 Washington, D.C., – One Economy’s dramatic web video series, 9INE joins the elite roster of award winners from the 32nd Annual Telly Awards. With nearly 11,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, 9INE received two Bronze Telly Awards in the social issue and education category and won the Silver People’s Telly Award, the highest honor. The
Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films.

We must constantly challenge ourselves to seek creative ways to meet people where they are in delivering life-enhancing online programs and resources.”
9INE is a realistic portrayal of the issues that expectant teen parents face, including accounts from real teens featured in each episode. Airing on the Public Internet Channel (http://pic.tv), viewers are directed to resources, curriculum guides and an online forum to educate themselves on teen pregnancy, from prevention to management. The Public Internet Channel is a public purpose network of writers, bloggers, producers and directors and provides free videos and tools to help viewers live a better life. The network has a history of tackling tough social issues, including the struggles of single moms, childhood obesity and gang violence.
9INE is a production of One Economy Corporation, a global non-profit that works to make sure all people, regardless of income and location, can maximize the power of technology and information. Through The Public Internet Channel, One Economy is able to reach teens on their preferred platform. Providing online content relevant and useful to underserved communities is part of One Economy’s holistic approach to encouraging broadband adoption and utilizing online tools in making informed life decisions.
9INE is written, produced directed by Allen Sowelle, who has many years of producing, directing and writing for television and film. It stars: Liz Vassey (CSI and Two and A Half Men); Brian J. White (Men of a Certain Age and The Shield); Jonathan ‘Lil J’ McDaniel (Cougar Town and Entourage); and Chasiti Hampton (Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper).
9INE is funded through a grant of the Broadband Technology Opportunity Program, made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. 9INE and other public purpose media work to break down one of the major barriers of broadband adoption, lack of relevant online content.
