Alejandra translates Beehive content into Spanish and works on content development for Spanish-users. She has worked extensively with farmworkers and the Latino population in the Southeastern US and indigenous and rural communities in Honduras, Costa Rica , and Bolivia. Alejandra's work has focused on economic development and the creation of culturally and linguistically appropriate education programs and materials. She has worked as a freelance translator for numerous non-profit organizations since 1994. She is a contributing author of The Human Cost of Food: Farmworkers' Lives, Labor and Advocacy. Alejandra is the Secretary of the Board of the Highlander Research and Education Center. She holds a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. She also has a BA in Latin American Studies and Sustainable Development from Appalachian State University and a Master's of Science in Community Forestry from North Carolina State University.
