Daniel Calarco joins the Washington office of One Global Economy as a Program Assistant. He coordinates the development of the South African and Jordan Beehives and also in support of additional OGE operations for new target communities. He has been working with us as an intern since May 2006 and was hired in October 2006.
Daniel comes to us from Georgetown University where he earned his Masters in Arab Studies in September 2006 with a concentration in business and economics. At Georgetown he also was awarded the Landeggar Honors Certificate in International Business and Diplomacy in May, 2006. Daniel is also certified as proficient in Arabic by Georgetown’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies. Daniel’s interest in the Middle East stems from study abroad at the American University in Cairo in 2002 and is reflected in his Bachelors degree in International Relations from Brown University in 2003. Daniel brings experience from working with the US State Department in Cairo where he created several publications for the US Embassy Public Affairs Department and authored a study on the Egyptian media’s use of the Internet.
