Moustafa Mourad is the President of One Global Economy, which he founded as the international arm of One Economy in 2005. In 2010, Mourad served as Interim President of One Economy during a period of great expansion in the organization. Previously, he was the principal of Mourad, Warnke & Associates, an international community development consulting firm with projects in Oman, South Africa and Honduras among others. Mourad was also the Director of Planning, Design, and Development at the Enterprise Foundation, the second largest national community development intermediary in the United States. Prior to his tenure at Enterprise, Mr. Mourad held positions as Senior Planner with the City of Boston, and City Planner for the City of Cambridge, Massachusetts. He also consulted for USAID, the Ford Foundation as well as the governments of Egypt, Sri Lanka and the Sudan on a number of development issues ranging from affordable housing policies to economic development and employment. She has extensive expertise in the turnaround of organizations in high-profile and high-stakes environments, while ensuring ongoing operations and maintenance of customer and constituency relationships. She has worked in multiple stages of the corporate life cycle, including private equity-backed companies, startup organizations, large and small scale mergers and acquisitions, and companies focusing on growth and expansion. Michelle’s experience as a Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at organizations such as the Corporation for National and Community Service, Dutko Worldwide and Epic Worldwide provides her a broad base of hands-on knowledge upon which to deliver creative, yet pragmatic solutions to the problems companies are facing. Her background in accounting and banking at Ernst & Whinney and The Prudential Bank prompts a balanced viewpoint of operations with a strong eye towards the financial impact of corporate decisions. Michelle has supplemented her professional career with involvement on boards of philanthropic and issue-focused organizations. Her service on the boards and committees of the US Army War College, Association of American Educators, World Wildlife Fund, Innovative Learning Systems and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy has provided an opportunity to apply her business skills to areas in which she has a personal interest, namely wildlife conservation coupled with community development, education and support of women in non-traditional roles. [show more]n working collaboratively with the Federal Communications Commission and the broadband industry to launch the nation's largest public private partnerships to promote broadband adoption in low-income communities -- the Digital Adoption Coalition and then Connect to Compete -- both of which have been led by One Economy.  He and his team also launched One Economy's mapping division, mobile application initiative Applications for Good, and One Economy's education efforts which debuted at OE 11 and honored the Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.  He believes that One Economy brings tremendous value to entire ecosystems by acting at the intersection of for-profit, non-profit, and public sectors, adding value to each sector and enhancing educational, employment, and health opportunities for low-income individuals. Ken brings two decades of experience, along with a decade as a senior executive for online, e-commerce, and wireless companies, to the One Economy team. Select roles include: vice president of marketing for e-commerce bookseller VarsityBooks.com, helping to drive them to their IPO in addition to launching their marketing services division; strategic advisor to Nextel, helping to launch their Boost prepaid offering; head of e-commerce and operations for a multi-carrier wireless company; and head of marketing and sales for the largest global e-commerce association. Ken serves as an advisor to various venture capital and early-to-mid stage new media companies and is a Gerson Lehrman Group Leader, where he provides expertise on online, new media, e-commerce, and wireless to the investment community. Sonja Murray, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Planning, Chief Program Officer, leads the overall strategic planning for One Economy’s programs and marketing activities. She is responsible for expanding the company'... [show more]s work nationally through business development opportunities and strategic partnerships. Sonja manages the team that executes and delivers One Economy’s field programs in the United States including One Economy’s current $51.5M federal broadband adoption grant. For the past several years, she has also overseen a national volunteer program that includes 10-20 Americorps*VISTA members annually. Additionally, Sonja is responsible for the management and expansion of One Economy’s work in rural communities. Sonja has over fifteen years of experience working with nonprofits and engaging grassroots organizations in the economic and community development process. During her previous position as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Development at Habitat for Humanity in Forsyth County, North Carolina, Sonja oversaw federal and state funded programs while raising $7.5 million to support the building of more than 100 houses and created community partnerships that generated 5,000 volunteers each year. Sonja earned her BA and MBA at Wake Forest University and then served as the University’s Director of Annual Support, raising more than $3.5 million annually. [show less]
